Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani signed for a record contract of 10 years and $700 million, making him the highest paid athlete in the history of professional sports.

Ohtani joining the Dodgers and the organization’s investment in the generational talent has afforded him a plethora of opportunities he hasn’t had in the past. To expand on his wide-ranging portfolio, also growing is his hand in some new real estate.

A report from the Wall Street Journal said that Ohtani has locked in another deal to build a dream home on Hawaii’s Big Island, which is expected to be roughly 5,000 square-feet.

Within the island’s historic Mauana Kea Resort, Ohtani signed on for a plot of land in the to-be constructed Hapuna Estates.

Ohtani reportedly paid $17 million for the plot of land, but no word on when his home will be fully built has been released. The home is said to be his offseason spot, likely to include lavish digs and extravagant furnishings.

The Location in Hawaii is also notable because it’s is the closest U.S. state to Japan, and it lies between Japan and L.A. When Ohtani stays there, he should be able to travel easier between his two most frequented areas.

Where to find Shohei Ohtani murals in Los Angeles

Soon after word of Ohtani’s signing became official, the murals of him in the signature Dodger blue began popping up across the city, and another was unveiled before Opening Day.

The latest mural dedicated to Ohtani was shown in its entirety on March 27, and was painted by local Los Angeles County artist Robert Vargas.

The Miyako Hotel in Little Tokyo, located at First Street between Central and San Pedro, was the canvas on which the mural was painted on.

There is also one other location in L.A. and another in Hermosa Beach.
