Shohei Ohtani Among 6 Dodgers With Diamond Rating In MLB The Show 25

The Los Angeles Dodgers are loaded with star power, and that was reflected in MLB The Show 25 with the ratings reveal for the top players in the game.

The Dodgers lead all teams with six players rated as a diamond or better. In Diamond Dynasty, a popular team-building and card-collecting mode, players generally receive diamond status when they reach an 85 overall rating or higher.

Led by none other than Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers’ diamond club also includes Mookie Betts, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith.

All six players were presented with a special trophy featuring a unique one-of-one card.

Ohtani is also one of just three players to receive the maximum 99 overall rating in the game, joining a pair of New York superstars—Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Juan Soto of the Mets.

Betts is the next highest-rated Dodgers player at 95 overall, followed by Snell (92), Glasnow (91), and Freeman (90). Smith’s overall rating was not officially announced, but since he received the diamond trophy, he will be at least an 85 overall.

All ratings apply to MLB The Show 25’s offline modes, including Play Now, Franchise, and Road to the Show. Player ratings in Diamond Dynasty will be lower initially, allowing for upgraded versions to be released later.

The Dodgers doubled the next closest team in diamond-rated players, with the Philadelphia Phillies ranking second with three honorees—Bryce Harper (95), Zack Wheeler (90), and Trea Turner (90).

Last year, the Dodgers had five players rated 90 or higher: Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Glasnow, and Clayton Kershaw. In 2023, that group was limited to Kershaw, Betts, and Freeman.

MLB the Show 25 cover revealed

MLB The Show 25, the game’s 20th Anniversary edition, is the first time the cover features multiple athletes on it. Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds, Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles and Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates received the honor.

De La Cruz is the first Reds player to grace the cover of The Show. Henderson is the first Orioles player to be on a video game cover since Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., who appeared on MLB 99.

Andrew McCutchen previously represented the Pirates on MLB the Show 13.

MLB The Show 25 is set for release on March 18, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. Early Access for the game begins on March 14 for those who purchase a deluxe edition of the game.
