The force was with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Star Wars day as they defeated the Atlanta Braves, 11-2, clinching a series win. The Dodgers have now won four straight series and have a chance to sweep on Sunday.

Max Muncy started the scoring in the second inning with a two-run homer, which came after Will Smith walked. It was Muncy’s sixth homer of the season as he moved into third on the club, trailing Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández.

But Ohtani extended his home run lead in the third inning with his eighth of the season to give the Dodgers a three-run lead.

Andy Pages also contributed with his fourth home run of the year in the fourth inning, continuing his hot start to his career. That was the start of what turned out to be a four-run inning.

Mookie Betts walked to put runners on first and second, and Ohtani followed with a single to drive in another run. The Braves took Bryce Elder out of the game, but that didn’t stop the Dodgers as Freddie Freeman and Will Smith each singled home a run, putting the Dodgers ahead 7-1.

Muncy gave the Dodgers some insurance with his second home run of the game in the seventh inning, moving into a tie with Hernández for second behind Ohtani. It was the 15th multi-homer game of his career.

The Dodgers ended up scoring two more runs in the inning to take a 10-2 lead as the result of an error from Ozzie Albies, who failed to catch a pop up off the bat of Betts.

In the eighth, Muncy continued his power show with his third homer of the game, tying Ohtani for the team lead and giving the Dodgers a nine-run cushion. It was the first three homer game of Muncy’s career.

Tyler Glasnow turned in another dominant start, throwing seven innings while allowing two runs and striking out 10 hitters. The runs allowed came on a single from Austin Riley in the fourth, and an RBI groundout in the seventh from Orlando Arcia.

Glasnow gave up five hits total and walked one, holding the Braves to fewer than one baserunner per inning, on average.

Shohei Ohtani breaks Dodgers record

Ohtani’s home run set a new Dodgers record for most by a Japanese-born player with his eighth of the season.

Ohtani had been tied with manager Dave Roberts, who hit seven home runs over his Dodgers playing career. Ohtani tied Roberts on April 26 with his seventh of the season.
