With temperatures in the triple digits and the roof open at Chase Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers continued to swing hot bats in a 6-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The victory marked the Dodgers’ sixth in a row in head-to-head meetings and guaranteed them at least a series split.

L.A. built an early lead by stringing together a two-out rally against Madison Bumgarner in the second inning. Justin Turner had drawn a leadoff walk and was on the verge of being stranded when Hanser Alberto kept the inning alive with a base hit.

Edwin Ríos then added to his impressive showing this season with a three-run home run. It marked the start of back-to-back blasts as Mookie Betts took the National League lead with his 13th homer of the year.

The Dodgers didn’t score again until Trea Turner’s leadoff home run in the sixth inning, and he added an RBI single in the seventh. Turner extended his hitting streak to 19 games, which is the longest active stretch in the Majors.

It’s also Turner’s third hitting streak of at least 16 games since being traded to the Dodgers last season.

Pepiot has best start with Dodgers

Ryan Pepiot was recalled Friday to make his third start for the Dodgers. He again battled familiar command troubles but pitched into the fifth inning before giving way to Brusdar Graterol with the bases loaded.

Graterol allowed a run to score on a sacrifice fly before getting through the inning. That closed the book on Pepiot at just one earned run allowed and three hits over 4.1 innings. He struck out five but also issued three walks and hit a batter.

Arizona scored another run off Alex Vesia in the seventh inning and nearly rallied in the ninth. Craig Kimbrel failed to retire any of the first three batters faced and went on to allow two runs before finishing out the game.

Geren fills in for Roberts

Dodgers bench coach Bob Geren was acting manager due to Dave Roberts attending his daughter’s high school graduation. Roberts is expected to return Saturday.
