Recap: Dodgers’ Winning Streak Snapped In Walk-Off Loss To Rockies

Shohei Ohtani had another big performance and Jason Heyward contributed as well but the Los Angeles Dodgers had their winning streak snapped at three games in a 7-6 walk-off loss to the Colorado Rockies.

The Dodgers now need a win Thursday afternoon to take the four-game series at Coors Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. PT.

Bobby Miller wasn’t particularly sharp in his return from the 15-day injured list as he struggled to put hitters away and allowed five runs but still managed to pitch into the seventh inning.

Miller retired his first two batters faced before running into some trouble that resulted in Michael Toglia hitting a three-run home run. Miller then benefitted from inning-ending double plays in the second and third, but a leadoff triple in the fourth led to a run.

The 25-year-old did improve his efficiency late into the start, needing just eight pitches to get through both the fifth and sixth innings. Miller didn’t retire the side in order until the sixth.

A fifth run was charged to Miller after he gave way to Daniel Hudson, who was let down by shaky defense. A double and sacrifice fly allowed the Rockies to tie the game.

Miller had been staked a lead thanks to Heyward’s two-run double in the fifth inning that put the Dodgers back ahead. It marked Heyward’s second consecutive game with an extra-base hit as he combined with Teoscar Hernández to make MLB history on Tuesday.

Earlier in the game, Ohtani erased the Dodgers’ deficit by hitting a two-out double with the bases loaded in the second inning. Freddie Freeman followed that with an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.

Ohtani had another opportunity to deliver for the Dodgers in the eighth inning but was called out on strikes, stranding a go-ahead runner in scoring position.

The Rockies didn’t squander such an opportunity against Yohan Ramírez in the ninth inning as back-to-back singles set the table for a game-winning sacrifice fly by Brenton Doyle.

Dodgers put Buehler on injured list

Prior to the game, the Dodgers placed Walker Buehler on the 15-day injured list with right hip inflammation as a corresponding move to activating Miller.
