Tony Gonsolin had an encouraging 2025 debut and Max Muncy hit his first home run of the season to help lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 12-7 win and series sweep of the Miami Marlins.
The Dodgers went 5-1 on the homestand and are riding a five-game winning streak heading into their longest road trip of the year. They scored at least 10 runs in back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Gonsolin held the Marlins to three runs over six innings. Each of those were driven in by Kyle Stowers, who had a two-run homer and RBI double. Stowers later hit a solo homer in the ninth inning. He finished with a first-career multi-homer game and first with four hits.
Meanwhile, Gonsolin otherwise finished with nine strikeouts without walking a batter. The start was Gonsolin’s first at the Major League level since Aug. 18, 2023, which coincidentally was against Miami as well.
However, that produced much different results as Gonsolin gave up a career-worst 10 runs while pitching with a damaged UCL that ultimately required Tommy John surgery.
“I’ve had a good chance to see Tony’s growth. He’s just a lot more mature. I think the confidence, his ability to make pitches, command the fastball, understand expectations on what’s good and what’s not Major League level,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said before Wednesday’s game.
“I’m really excited to get him back in the rotation. Just a guy that’s been there, done that. I think he’s going to be very dependable for us going forward.”
Gonsolin was provided early run support thanks to Muncy ending his season-long drought by hitting a solo homer. Muncy needed 106 plate appearances to hit his first home run. That represented his longest stretch to begin a season without a long ball and the it was also the most Muncy had ever gone without a homer in a single season.
Mookie Betts’ two-run base hit and Andy Pages’ RBI single extended the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0 in the third inning. It also gave Pages an eight-game hitting streak.
The stretch is the second-longest of his career, as Pages had a 10-game hitting streak from April 24-May 4, 2024.
After the Marlins had cut the Dodgers’ lead to 4-3, Betts hit a two-run triple and Freddie Freeman broke the game open by following with a home run. L.A. added onto their lead with an RBI single by Kiké Hernández in the seventh inning, and Teoscar Hernández’s ground-rule RBI double in the eighth.

With the length provided from Gonsolin, the Dodgers only needed to rely on Alex Vesia, Anthony Banda and Yoendrys Gómez to pitch one inning each. Gómez allowed four runs before managing to finish out the win.
Now the Dodgers have an off day before beginning a 10-game road trip on Friday.
