The Los Angeles Dodgers began their final homestand of the season by sweeping the San Francisco Giants for the first time since April 1-3, 2024.
The Dodgers won for the 14th time in the last 17 games and now have an off day on Monday before finishing off the homestand by hosting the San Diego Padres.
L.A. won its 32nd series of the season (32-15-3) and lowered its magic number to clinch a bye in the first round of the postseason and host Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Saturday, Oct. 3 to three.
The Dodgers have won the season series with the Giants each of the last four years and have gone 46-22 against them since 2022. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Dodgers now hold a slight lead in the all-time matchups between the two clubs, 1,294-1,292-19.

Dodgers complete comeback win
The Dodgers trailed by one run for most of the game, but finally broke through in the sixth and seventh innings.
Tommy Edman started the scoring by tying the game with a solo home run with one out in the sixth, giving the Dodgers some life after what was a tough day at the plate for them overall.
In the seventh, Max Muncy started the rally with a one-out single, and that was followed by another single from Josue De Paula to put runners at the corners. Kiké Hernández came through and put the Dodgers ahead with a one-run double. However, the Dodgers were unable to add on there.
They did end up adding insurance in the eighth inning on a bloop single from Muncy that made it 3-1. Teoscar Hernández and Freddie Freeman both singled with one out to put a runner in scoring position.
Emmet Sheehan turns in excellent outing
It was Jack Dreyer who started the game as the opener, and he put them behind early, allowing a run after a leadoff walk and throwing error on a pickoff attempt that put Jonah Cox into scoring position. Victor Bericoto singled him home with one out in the inning before Dreyer recorded the final two outs.
Emmet Sheehan took over in the second inning and pitched the bulk of the game. He ended up giving the Dodgers 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out nine.
The walk came with two outs in the third inning, and the single came with one out in the sixth before Sheehan struck out the next two, so the Giants never put a runner in scoring position against him.
The right-hander was recalled before the game with Tarik Skubal being placed on the bereavement list.
Kris Bubic finished off the seventh inning, and Brock Stewart worked the eighth. Tanner Scott ended up closing out the game to earn the save.
