The Los Angeles Dodgers won their second consecutive game versus the Los Angeles Angels after ending a seven-game losing streak in the Freeway Series. With the win, the Dodgers also extended their overall winning streak to four games.

The Dodgers now have a chance to sweep the Angels to conclude rivalry weekend.

Dodgers 15, Angels 2: key takeaways

Justin Wrobleski pitches another gem

Justin Wrobleski continued to do his thing as he turned in another excellent start for the Dodgers, which has become somewhat expected each time he takes the mound. The Dodgers needed Wrobleski to pitch deep into the game after a bullpen game yesterday, and he ended up giving them six innings while allowing just two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts to one walk.

Wrobleski kept the Angels off the board until the sixth inning, when they finally broke through for their two runs. Still, he was able to limit the damage and complete the inning. The inning started when Max Muncy and Freddie Freeman were unable to complete a tough play to allow the leadoff runner to reach, and then a pair of doubles plated two runs.

The left-hander now has a 2.49 ERA across his 50.2 innings pitched, and he picked up his sixth win in his seventh start.

Dodgers offense breaks out

Although the Dodgers’ offense only recorded six hits, they scored 10 runs as a result of taking seven walks in the game, including four in one inning.

Shohei Ohtani started the game with a walk, and Mookie Betts singled him over to third before Will Smith hit a sacrifice fly that put them up 1-0 in the first. José Soriano settled in from there and kept the Dodgers off the board for the next four innings.

But the Dodgers broke through in the sixth as Soriano lost control of his pitches. He walked Betts, Freeman and hit Smith to load the bases, and then walked Andy Pages and Muncy to bring in two more runs and give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.

Chase Silseth took over on the mound for Soriano, and he immediately hit Teoscar Hernández to bring home another run. Alex Call then had the only hit of the inning, an RBI single through the left side of the infield that brought home another two runs.

In total, the Dodgers scored five runs in the inning with just one hit.

They added four more runs in the eighth inning, starting with a single from Muncy and walk from Call. Ohtani then hit his first triple of the season and scored on an error from the Angels for a little league home run that put the Dodgers up 9-2.

Betts followed that with a home run to give the Dodgers their 10th run.

The Dodgers then added on five more runs in the ninth inning. Muncy drove in a run on a fielder’s choice and error, Hernández singled in a run, and with the bases loaded, Shohei Ohtani doubled in two runs.

Shohei Ohtani hits into netting

Ohtani’s triple was also a Little League home run as the ball he scorched down the right-field line bounced up and hit protective netting that was installed this season at Angel Stadium. It was not ruled an inside-the-park home run due to the Angels committing a throwing error on the play.
