The Los Angeles Dodgers had a chance to sweep the New York Mets on their Sunday afternoon matchup at Citi Field, but were unable to do so after blowing a late lead.
Despite the disappointing loss, it was still an excellent road trip for the Dodgers as they won all three series and went 6-3 overall.
L.A. now returns home with an off day on Monday before starting a series against the Seattle Mariners.

Dodgers bullpen blows lead
The Dodgers took a 3-1 lead into the sixth inning, but their bullpen was unable to protect it. That started with Jack Dreyer taking over in the sixth inning and walking two hitters while recording just one out.
He was replaced by Evan Phillips, who allowed a go-ahead, three-run homer to put the Mets up 4-3. Two runs were charged to Dreyer, while Phillips was charged for one.
Will Klein got the seventh inning and allowed a leadoff walk and then a one-out single. Another run ended up scoring on a wild pitch to extend the Mets’ lead to two runs.
Another walk put two runners on base, and then Marcus Semien blasted a three-run homer to put the game out of reach. Klein allowed four runs on two hits and two walks in his lone inning of work.
Emmmet Sheehan starts slow, bounces back
Based on the first inning of the game, it looked like Emmet Sheehan was going to have another poor outing. He allowed a double and single to begin the game that put the Mets up 1-0, and then allowed another single to allow three straight hits before recording an out.
But from there, Sheehan stranded both runners and did not allow another hit over the next four innings. He walked two batters and hit another, but outside of that, Sheehan was able to keep the Mets off the bases and off the scoreboard.
The right-hander ended his outing tossing five innings while allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Freddie Freeman continues hot streak
Freddie Freeman had another multi-hit day for the fourth consecutive game. He entered with three straight three-hit games, but finished with two on Sunday.
Freeman also drove in the first run with a double in the third inning after a leadoff double from Eliezer Alfonzo and a walk from Andy Pages. Max Muncy then grounded out to score the Dodgers’ second run of the game.
The Dodgers loaded the bases in the fourth inning, but scored just one run out of it when Alfonzo hit a comebacker to Freddy Peralta, who was only able to record one out.
It was a poor day in total for the offense as they went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
