Recap: Chris Taylor Delivers Walk-Off Win Against Giants In Dodgers’ Final Home Game Of Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers closed out their final homestand of the 2023 season with a 3-2 walk-off win over the San Francisco Giants in 10 innings. The Dodgers won their 96th game of the season on an RBI single from Chris Taylor.

James Outman provided Lance Lynn an early lead by ambushing the first pitch he saw for a two-run home run in the second inning. However, the Dodgers largely went quiet from there, and it allowed the Giants to eventually pull even.

Lynn got through four scoreless innings but a leadoff single in the fifth was followed by LaMonte Wade Jr. tying the game on his 17th home run of the season. For Lynn, he’s given up an MLB-worst 43 homers this year, including 15 of them since being traded to the Dodgers.

That Wade’s blast only tied the game was somewhat a result of questionable decision-making by the Giants. They loaded the bases with two outs in third inning, only for Thairo Estrada to pop out on his bunt attempt.

Lynn had a quick reaction to get off the mound and make a running catch slightly down the third-base line to end the inning. He was the benefactor of a similar situation against the San Diego Padres earlier this month, when Trent Grisham attempted to bunt his way on.

Although Lynn’s home run troubles persisted, he collected six strikeouts and got through six innings to provide the Dodgers with some length heading into an off day before playing a doubleheader at Coors Field.

Lynn has a 4.50 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 10 starts for the Dodgers and figures to make a final tuneup on the road prior to the postseason beginning.
