The Los Angeles sports scene is perhaps the best it has ever been as the Dodgers are one win away from returning to the World Series for the second straight year and the Lakers’ season is underway with the NBA’s best in LeBron James leading them.
Additionally, the Rams are the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL at 6-0 and looked to be poised to make a Super Bowl run. The Rams boast the best running back in football in Todd Gurley, who seems to be embracing Los Angeles sports despite being born in Baltimore.
Gurley was seen a lot at Lakers games with owner Jeanie Buss, and on Thursday was wearing a Manny Machado Dodgers jersey after practice.
When asked about the Dodgers, Gurley said he is taking inspiration from them potentially returning to the World Series as he and the Rams continue their journey to the Super Bowl, via the Rams official Twitter account:
“I mean, I always knew the Lakers are always the Lakers. It’s been cool, man. It’s really, honestly, no other city that I would want to be in. I always wanted to live in L.A. To be able to play out here, like you said, the Dodgers are doing good. One game away from going to the World Series back to back. When you see stuff like that, it’s just more like inspiration. You want that feeling as well. You don’t want to be the team that’s losing in the playoffs. It just brings that competitive greatness in me.”
Gurley may be in the midst of an MVP season, leading the NFL in rushing with 623 yards in addition to 247 receiving yards with an NFL-leading 11 total touchdowns.
He threw out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium this past April, and if he continues to show the Dodgers love then there’s a good chance he will be invited back at some point next season.
