Prince Harry Apologizes To Canada For Wearing Dodgers Hat During World Series

As the 2025 World Series shifted to Dodger Stadium for Games 3, 4 and 5, there were plenty of celebrities who came out to support the Los Angeles Dodgers as they looked to gain the upper hand over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Among them were Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, who both wore Dodgers hats while sitting in the front row for Game 4. But Prince Harry’s decision to root for the Dodgers did not go over well with some Canadians due to his previous ties to the country.

Prince Harry spoke to CTV News and apologized to Canada for wearing a Dodgers hat during the World Series, via ESPN:

“Well, firstly, I would like to apologize to Canada for wearing it. Secondly, I was under duress. There wasn’t much choice. I was invited to the L.A. Dodgers box by the dugout by the owner himself, so I thought it was the polite thing to do. But, I’m going to wear this (puts on Blue Jays cap) from now on, to make sure I don’t make anymore of those mistakes.

“But the other piece of this was when you’re missing a little hair on top and you’re sitting under lights, you’ll take any hat that’s available. So, Game 5, Game 6, Game 7, I was Blue Jays throughout. Now that I’ve admitted that, it’s going to be really hard to return to Los Angeles.”

Prince Harry used to live in Canada, and the country is a former British colony that remains part of its commonwealth, so many assumed that he would support the Blue Jays during the World Series.

Prince Harry, who now resides in Southern California with Markle and their two children, clarified that while he wore a Dodgers hat to Game 4, he was still pulling for the Blue Jays to get past the finish line.

L.A. eliminated Toronto in seven games after winning back-to-back elimination games on the road to repeat as World Series champions.

Dodgers achieve MLB history with World Series win

The Dodgers staved off elimination in part by completing double plays to finish off wins in Games 6 and 7, and they also erased a deficit in the ninth inning on Saturday before going on for a victory in extras.

Both achievements represented firsts in MLB postseason history.
