Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

After splitting four games with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now south of the border to face the San Diego Padres in the Mexico Series. Inclement weather threatens play at Estadio de Béisbol Monterrey throughout the weekend but the hope is to get three games in.

The Dodgers recalled Walker Buehler from High-A Rancho Cucamonga for his third start of the season. He enters with a 1.80 ERA, 2.16 FIP and 1.40 WHIP in 10 innings with 11 strikeouts to four walks.

Buehler looks to build off a solid outing against the San Francisco Giants. In five innings, he allowed six hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts. While he’s been optioned back to the Minors after each of his first two starts, Buehler may stick around this time due to Hyun-Jin Ryu’s injury.

The Padres counter with Joey Lucchesi, who makes his first career start against the Dodgers. He has been impressive through six career outings at the Major League level, posting a 2.78 ERA, 3.13 FIP and 1.11 WHIP across 32.1 innings with 35 strikeouts to 10 walks.

In his last game against the New York Mets, Lucchesi earned his third victory of the season. He yielded just six baserunners and two earned runs over five innings with six strikeouts.

The Dodgers field a lineup that includes Kiké Hernandez at first base and Chris Taylor at shortstop. Alex Verdugo, who is getting the opportunity to play in front of friends and family, is starting in left field.
