The Los Angeles Dodgers redeemed themselves with a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on Monday, snapping a two-game losing streak against their National League foe in the process.

The two teams faced off at Wrigley Field last week, where the Cubs took two of three from the Dodgers. One of those wins came against Ross Stripling, who makes his 11th start of the season on Tuesday.

Stripling allowed eight hits and three earned runs over six innings pitched in his most recent start at Wrigley Field. He was ultimately tabbed with his second loss of the season, as the Dodgers were shut out in the contest.

The right-hander enters play with a 6-2 record, having compiled a minuscule 1.99 ERA, 2.47 FIP and 1.04 WHIP in 72.1 innings pitched (21 games). He has 85 strikeouts compared to only 11 walks in 72.1 innings.

The Cubs counter with Jon Lester, who looks for similar results against the Dodgers in his second consecutive start against them. He tossed seven scoreless innings last week while only yielding five hits.

Lester, however, walked more batters (three) than accumulated strikeouts (one), and frequently gave up hard contact in his outing. In 15 starts this season, he owns a solid 2.12 ERA, 4.19 FIP and 1.09 WHIP across 90 innings with 70 punch outs to 31 free passes.

In his career against the Dodgers, the left-hander is 3-3 with a 3.33 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 48.2 innings pitched with 45 strikeouts to 16 walks. At Dodger Stadium, he has posted a 4.76 ERA in just four regular season starts.

Chris Taylor is out of the Dodgers lineup for the fifth consecutive game, and that will likely be the case again on Wednesday as he continues to deal with hamstring troubles. He did make a pinch-hit appearance in the eighth inning of Monday’s game though, hitting a solo home run to center.

The Cubs placed former MVP Kris Bryant on the disabled list on Tuesday, so the Dodgers won’t see him for the entire series. He is dealing with shoulder soreness.
