Preview: Ross Stripling, Dodgers Look To Even Freeway Series With Angels
Jim Young-USA TODAY Sports

In the wake of a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers look to turn the page and even up the Freeway Series at Angel Stadium on Saturday.

Ross Stripling makes his 13th start of the season, as he looks to rebound from what was arguably his worst outing of the year against the Colorado Rockies last Sunday.

In six innings pitched, Stripling allowed a season-high nine hits and four runs, but was ultimately tabbed with a no-decision as the Dodgers overcame an early deficit to defeat the Rockies, 6-4, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process.

Stripling is coming off a dominant month of June in which he posted a solid 2.48 ERA and 0.97 WHIP over 29 innings with 30 strikeouts to only one walk. Overall on the season, he is 6-2 with a 2.27 ERA, 2.68 FIP and 1.12 WHIP while striking out 96 hitters compared to 13 walks in 83.1 innings.

The Angels counter with Deck McGuire, who makes just his second start with the organization after being claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers.

In his lone start against the Baltimore Orioles, McGuire yielded five hits (two home runs) and five runs in only 3.1 innings pitched, accumulating four strikeouts to two walks.

Justin Turner is serving as the designated hitter for the Dodgers to get him off his feet for a game. Max Muncy gets the start at third base in his place.
