After posting a disappointing 4-7 record in what was a grueling 11-game road trip, the Los Angeles Dodgers return home for a brief two-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers are just 3-7 against the National League West first-place Diamondbacks this season.
Rich Hill makes his first start in nearly three weeks after spending an extended amount of time on the disabled list with a cracked fingernail that led to inflammation followed by an infection.
The 38-year-old has struggled in the early going, having posted a 6.00 ERA, 5.02 FIP and 1.60 WHIP over 15 innings pitched (three starts).
Since returning the Majors in 2005, Hill has vastly struggled against the Diamondbacks. He owns a lifetime 5.50 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 54 frames with 54 strikeouts to 16 walks (10 starts).
Zack Godley makes his seventh start of the season and already fourth against the Dodgers. In his previous three outings, he allowed seven combined runs over 17 innings pitched — good for a 3.71 ERA.
For his career against the Dodgers, Godley is 2-3 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 46.1 innings with 39 strikeouts to 17 walks.
All-in-all this season, the right-hander has compiled a 4-2 record with a 3.41 ERA, 3.21 FIP and 1.40 WHIP over 34.1 innings with 8.7 strikeouts and 3.7 walks per nine.
