In the wake of being swept by the Cincinnati Reds, the Los Angeles Dodgers now begin a six-game road trip on the East Coast, with their first stop against the Miami Marlins.
The Dodgers enter play on Tuesday in the midst of a four-game losing streak and eight games behind the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West. The Marlins won two of three games in a recent series at Dodger Stadium.
However, they faced a lineup that was without Logan Forsythe and Justin Turner. After completing respective rehab assignments with High-A Rancho Cucamonga over the weekend, they were activated off the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.
Forsythe starts at second base and is batting seventh, while Turner is at the hot corner and hitting in his usual third spot.
Alex Wood makes his eight start of the season and looks to build off a respectable outing against the Diamondbacks. In five innings pitched, he allowed just five hits and one run with four strikeouts.
Wood is still in search for his first win of the season, as he enters with an 0-3 record. Furthermore, he owns a solid 3.60 ERA, 2.68 FIP and 1.00 WHIP over 45 innings with 42 strikeouts to just eight walks.
The Marlins counter with Wei-Yin Chen, as he looks to rebound from a disastrous start against the Chicago Cubs. He logged just three innings pitched and yielded seven hits and nine runs with more walks (two) than strikeouts (one).
In three overall starts this season, Chen has posted a 10.22 ERA, 10.69 FIP and 1.95 WHIP across 12.1 innings. He is allowing over four home runs per nine innings, while he has walked more batters (eight) than accumulated strikeouts (six).
