Don Mattingly won yet another game at Dodger Stadium on Monday night when his Miami Marlins came from behind in the sixth inning to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers failed to hold on to a slim lead, and left the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth.
Clayton Kershaw takes the mound Tuesday for his fifth start of the season. He enters 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA, 2.25 FIP and 0.77 WHIP. Kershaw pitched eight innings and had 10 strikeouts in his last outing, against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.
He’s a lifetime 5-2 with a 1.91 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in eight starts against the Marlins. Included in that is a complete-game shutout in May 2011 at Dodger Stadium. Last season, Kershaw lost his only start facing Miami, allowing three runs (one earned) at Marlins Park on June 27.
The southpaw is 2-0 in three career starts at Dodger Stadium against the Marlins, while never allowing more than two earned runs. Miami counters with right-hander Tom Koehler. He’s 1-2 this season with a 4.80 ERA, 4.15 FIP and 1.73 WHIP through three starts in 2016.
His last time facing the Dodgers was in June 2015, where he recorded five strikeouts in a win. Adrian Gonzalez will be back in the lineup on Tuesday night, after resting for the first time this season.
Also back in the Dodgers’ lineup is Carl Crawford, who was reinstated from the disabled list. The Dodgers optioned Zach Lee to Triple-A Oklahoma City to clear room for Crawford on the active roster.
Joc Pederson starts at center field, Corey Seager is back at shortstop, and Yasmani Grandal returns to catcher after starting at first base in the series opener.
