The Los Angeles Dodgers have a chance at their third sweep of the season when they take on the Colorado Rockies in Sunday’s series finale. They send Alex Wood to the mound on an extra day of rest, while the Rockies will counter with Chad Bettis.

Wood enters 1-4 with a 3.75 ERA, 3.20 FIP and 1.04 WHIP, mediocre numbers for someone expected to be the Dodgers’ No. 2 starter coming out of Spring Training. Wood is looking to rebound from his last start, when he allowed five runs in 5.1 innings to the San Diego Padres on May 26.

Wood also gave up home runs to three different Padres players in the 7-5 loss. Sunday marks his first time pitching against the Rockies in 2018. Wood threw six scoreless innings in his last start at Coors Field in 2017.

Bettis takes a 4-1 mark with a 3.68 ERA, 4.30 FIP and 1.24 WHIP into the matchup.
He allowed two runs on three hits over five innings at Dodger Stadium on May 22 and did not factor into the decision of the Dodgers’ eventual 5-3 victory.

Bettis has struggled recently at home, giving up 12 earned runs over his last two outings at Coors.

The Dodgers carry several hot bats into Sunday’s game, but none more so than Matt Kemp, whose .348 batting average leads the National League. Kemp has homered in each of the series’ first two games, continuing his remarkable comeback season.

He currently leads all active players in runs scored, doubles, home runs, hits and RBI against the Rockies, and is tied for fourth with a .318 career batting average against them.

The Dodgers’ other outfielders have also proven key this series. Joc Pederson continues to enjoy playing at Coors Field, going 4-for-5 with two solo home runs on Saturday. Meanwhile, Yasiel Puig is hitting .323 with a 1.601 on-base plus slugging percentage since returning from the disabled list on May 9.

A win would give the Dodgers their first sweep at Coors Field since 2010. A key contributor for L.A. in that series was none other than Kemp, who hit a grand slam in that series’ final game.
