After earning a victory in the series opener, the Los Angeles fell to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon, setting up a rubber match at Miller Park.
Taking the mound for the Dodgers is left-hander Alex Wood, who will look to start off the second half the way he finished the first. In his last six starts before the All-Star break, Wood went 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA while striking out 28 and walking seven in 36.2 innings.
Overall in 19 starts this season, Wood holds a 5-5 record to go along with a 3.92 ERA, 3.48 FIP and 1.17 WHIP. In 105.2 innings, he has struck out 94 hitters while only walking 20.
He has made five appearances (one start) against the Brewers in his career, dominating them to the tune of a 0.87 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.
The Brewers also send a southpaw to the mound in Brent Suter, who has done a nice job eating up innings for Milwaukee this season. Suter has appeared in 19 games (17 starts) and gone 8-6 with a 4.39 ERA, 4.32 FIP and 1.16 WHIP with 81 strikeouts and 19 walks in 98.1 innings.
Suter has not fared as well at Miller Park as he has on the road, yielding a 4.87 ERA in 57.1 innings at home compared to 3.73 in 41 innings on the road. Sunday marks his first career appearances against Los Angeles.
Justin Turner, who has not started for the Dodgers since July 12 due to an adductor injury, returns to the lineup for the Dodgers. He made a pinch-hit appearance on Saturday although he wound up striking out.
Overall on the season, Turner is slashing .256/.353/.390 with five home runs and 19 RBI.
Wood and the Dodgers will look to figure out Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich. The Los Angeles area product is 5-for-9 with a home run and four RBI so far in the series.
