The Los Angeles Dodgers (72-46) could not have finished their six-game road trip much better on Sunday, routing the New York Mets 14-4 to complete a three-game sweep.

Now the Dodgers return home for a seven-game homestand that ends with a four-game series against the Mets later in the week. But first, Los Angeles will host the Pittsburgh Pirates (42-76) in the opener of a three-game set on Monday as betting favorites on the MLB odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com (how sports betting works).

Pirates vs. Dodgers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Dodgers are expected to be listed as large chalk at sports betting sites throughout this series despite the fact that their starting pitchers for two of the three matchups are still yet to be decided. The only starter penciled in for them as of now is David Price (4-1, 3.60 ERA) for Tuesday’s game, opposite Wil Crowe (3-7, 5.27 ERA) of the Pirates.

Price has come in handy on numerous occasions so far this year due to injuries to the Los Angeles pitching staff, although he has not earned a victory since July 4 at the Washington Nationals when he worked two scoreless innings of relief.

On the Pittsburgh side, Steven Brault (0-1, 3.00 ERA) is expected to go in the opener while JT Brubaker (4-12, 5.13 ERA) will close out the series for the visitors. Both will likely be huge underdogs for the Pirates no matter who is toeing the rubber for the hosts on Monday and Wednesday.

Pittsburgh just lost two of three to the National League Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers, but the team has dropped 10 of 11 dating back to August 4 with only two wins overall this month. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles are the lone teams in MLB with more losses this season, and the Pirates have also gone 18-41 away from home this year.

The Dodgers are 36-20 at Chavez Ravine in 2021 and still find themselves four games back in the NL West. Los Angeles has absolutely dominated this series with Pittsburgh recently, winning each of the past 13 meetings going back to 2018. The Dodgers have won 20 of 22 against the Pirates as well, with the OVER cashing in 11 of the last 14.
