The Los Angeles Dodgers have an opportunity to establish a season high by extending their winning streak to four games as the homestand continues with a matchup against Trea Turner and the Philadelphia Phillies, who are 8-2 in their last 10 games.

Monday is Turner’s first time at Dodger Stadium since signing an 11-year, $300 million contract with the Phillies in the offseason. He attributed some of the reasoning behind that decision in free agency to Bryce Harper, who is returning to the Phillies lineup on Tuesday, a mere 159 days after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Turner is in the midst of a modest first season with the Phillies, batting .260/.300/.374 with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and seven RBI. Turner has just four stolen bases, but figures to be in prime position to add to that total against a Dodgers team that has struggled to contain the running game.

The onus first falls on Tony Gonsolin in what’s his second start since coming off the 15-day injured list. Gonsolin was expected to be part of the Dodgers’ Opening Day rotation but began the season on the IL due to a sprained left akle.

Gonsolin’s rehab assignment ended after just one outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City because of Michael Grove suffering a right groin strain. Gonsolin allowed two hits over 3.1 scoreless innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates in his 2023 debut.

The Phillies counter with Taijuan Walker, who is 2-1 with a 4.97 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in five starts this season. Walker allowed four runs in his first outing this year then followed that by holding opponents to two or fewer in his next three starts.

However, the right-hander is coming off allowing five runs over just four innings of a no-decision against the Seattle Mariners.

Walker went 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA in two starts against the Dodgers last season while he was a member of the New York Mets.
