Arizona Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll and Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs committed to play for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

United States baseball manager Mark DeRosa made the announcement during the 2025 MLB Awards Show at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. He was on stage with Team USA general manager Mike Hill and Seattle Mariners All-Star Cal Raleigh when inviting Crow-Armstrong and Carroll to join them.

“We need some energy, some youth infused,” DeRosa said. “We’re going to have the big captain, the AL MVP, standing in right field. But I think we need some young guns to go get it, to hit some homers.”

DeRosa and Crow-Armstrong then revealed details from their conversation at the Home Run Derby about the Cubs All-Star potentially joining the Team USA roster.

“I said, ‘Whenever you call, you know my answer is yes,’” Crow-Armstrong recalled. “I love playing for my country more than anything. Getting to play for you, getting to play with Cal, Corbs, Mr. Judge, it’s going to be great.”

DeRosa phoned Carroll to ask for his commitment to the U.S. baseball team.

Shortly after being announced as the newest members of Team USA, Crow-Armstrong and Carroll were both named to the 2025 All-MLB Second Team.

Team USA roster for WBC

Crow-Armstrong and Carroll joined a Team USA roster that already featured captain Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Paul Skenes, Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals, and Raleigh.

The Los Angeles Dodgers don’t yet have a player named to Team USA, but Will Smith has expressed interest in playing in the upcoming WBC.

The United States will play in Pool B for the 2026 WBC, which is scheduled for March 5-17, 2026. Team USA is looking to bounce back after losing to Japan in the 2023 championship game.
