Paul Gervase ‘Very Excited’ To Help Dodgers Pursue Back-To-Back World Series Titles

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed four separate trades before the 3 p.m. PT deadline arrived on Thursday, with their first being to acquire Paul Gervase, Adam Serinowski and Ben Rortvedt as part of a three-team deal.

The Dodgers’ involvement came shortly after reports of the Cincinnati Reds reaching an agreement to acquire Zack Littell from the Tampa Bay Rays. The Dodgers wound up trading Hunter Feduccia to the Rays, who also received Brian Van Belle as part of the transaction.

Serinowski is an intriguing pitching prospect and Rortvedt takes Feduccia’s role as the third cacher in the organization with MLB experience. Meanwhile, Gervase made his MLB debut with the Rays this season and could factor into the Dodgers bullpen down the stretch.

Once the trade was made official, Gervase thanked the Rays organization and expressed his excitement to join the Dodgers as they look to become MLB’s first repeat champion since the New York Yankees (1998-2000).

Thank you to the Tampa Bay Rays for helping me accomplish my lifelong dream of becoming a major leaguer. With that being said, I’m very excited to join the Dodgers and help chase a World Series title! https://t.co/hpNMHRaJWB

It’s not yet clear if the Dodgers will immediately add Gervase onto their roster or option the right-hander to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The team additionally addressed their bullpen by reuniting with Brock Stewart in a trade that sent James Outman to the Minnesota Twins. Stewart is back for a third stint with the Dodgers organization.

Paul Gervase’s MLB profile

Gervase was drafted by the New York Mets in the 12th round in 2022. The right-hander joined the Rays organization when he was acquired from the Mets in exchange for Tyler Zuber at the 2024 trade deadline.

Gervase, who stands 6’10, went 2-3 with four saves, a 3.12 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 28 games (one start) for Triple-A Durham this year. He averaged 14.06 strikeouts per nine innings with the Bulls.

The 25-year-old joined the Rays just over one month ago and pitched to a 4.56 ERA in five appearances. Gervase struck out five batters over 6.1 innings, but also walked five.

Gervase takes Feduccia’s spot on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, which currently remains full.
