The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers played another pitcher’s duel in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, but it ended the same way as the previous two — with another Dodgers’ victory.
After their 3-1 win, the Dodgers now hold a 3-0 lead in the series and are one win away from advancing to the World Series for the second consecutive season. Game 4 and a potential Game 5 will be held at Dodger Stadium over the next two days, as well.
The Dodgers got on the board first as Shohei Ohtani hit a leadoff triple and scored when Mookie Betts doubled, but that was all for the offense as the Brewers replaced Aaron Ashby, their opener, with Jacob Misiorowski.
The Brewers answered back in the second when Caleb Durbin tripled and scored on a single from Jake Bauers. But from there, neither offense found any success over the next few innings as they dealt with shadows and two pitchers who were locked in.
Tyler Glasnow gave the Dodgers 5.2 innings of one-run ball before exiting. He allowed three hits, walked three and struck out eight, leaving his start with 99 pitches thrown.
And after that, the Dodgers broke through, scoring two runs in the sixth inning as Misiorowski seemingly ran out of gas. He allowed a single to Will Smith and Walked Freddie Freeman, then Tommy Edman came through with a single to put the Dodgers up 2-1.
Abner Uribe took over on the mound, and he ended up throwing the ball away on a pickoff attempt, which allowed Freeman to score the third run of the game for the Dodgers.
Dodgers bullpen shuts down Brewers
After Glasnow was out in the sixth inning, Alex Vesia recorded the final out of the frame with a strikeout. Vesia stayed in for the seventh and allowed a leadoff double before getting a fly out.
Blake Treinen then took over, and he forced a pop out and strikeout to end the inning and strand a runner at second. Anthony Banda pitched a perfect eighth inning while recording a strikeout of Christian Yelich.
Roki Sasaki was back in for the save attempt, and he shut down the Brewers to secure the victory, ending it with a strikeout.
