New Minor League Baseball Logo Establishes Closer Connection To MLB

Minor League Baseball announced the launch of a new logo to represent its 14 leagues across four classification levels with a design much closer to Major League Baseball’s iconic logo.

The new Minor League Baseball logo features the iconic MLB silhouetted batter design, representing the connection between MiLB and MLB as part of the player development league structure.

“The relationship between Minor League Baseball and Major League Baseball has never been stronger, and this new brand identity is a testament to that strength,” MLB’s executive vice president of baseball operations Morgan Sword said in a statement.

“MiLB, its players, and its fans play a critical role in our efforts to grow baseball’s popularity around the globe, and we are thrilled to introduce a new logo signifying that opportunity.”

The red coloring on the old MiLB logo has been removed and now has two shades of blue as its colors. In a social media post, MiLB stated the blue color scheme is rooted in baseball history with the lighter color representing the bright futures of players on their journey while the darker blue helps the stars shine.

It also features an angular four-star motif, reflecting both the player progression through the Minor League system: Single-A, High-A, Double-A and Triple-A — and the star MLB players of the future.

“This is merely one component of a broader brand marketing effort to elevate awareness of the incredible fan experience within each of our MiLB ballparks,” MiLB senior director of marketing Kristin Barnett said.

“We are excited for the future of the player development system, and this is one small but important step toward recognizing MiLB as part of the broader “one baseball” initiative.”

The previous MiLB logo was introduced in 2021 as an update from the version used throughout the 2010s.

The latest update marks their fourth significant logo change with different designs being used in the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s before their last minor update.

The new logo will begin appearing on Saturday night’s broadcast of the Triple-A Championship Game, which will feature the Pacific League Champion Oklahoma City Dodgers against the Norfolk Tide (Baltimore Orioles affiliate).

The new logo will also appear on the MiLB Awards Show on MLB Network on October 2 and throughout the remainder of the offseason, the logo will be updated across all MiLB-owned and operated media platforms and incorporated further across league touch points beginning Opening Day of the 2024 season.
