Nationals Vs. Dodgers Game Preview: Chance For Series Sweep

After winning the first two games of the series, the Los Angeles Dodgers look to close out the month of May with a sweep of the Washington Nationals at Dodger Stadium.

Noah Syndergaard makes his 11th start of the season and hopes to bounce back from a rough outing against the Tampa Bay Rays. He allowed six runs on eight hits and collected three strikeouts in six innings of work.

Syndergaard credited the Rays for taking advantage of his mistakes but also lamented not being able to pitch at the level he wants.

Syndergaard’s first season with the Dodgers hasn’t been smooth sailing as he enters with a 1-4 record, 6.27 ERA, 4.51 FIP and 1.35 WHIP in 47.1 innings pitched. The 30-year-old owns a career 8-6 record, 3.25 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 113.2 frames against the Nationals.

Washington counters with Patrick Corbin, who struggled in his most recent start against the Kansas City Royals. He allowed six runs on seven hits and collected six strikeouts in six innings pitched.

Corbin is 4-5 with a 4.88 ERA, 4.55 FIP and 1.42 WHIP in 62.2 innings across 11 starts this season. In 24 career games against the Dodgers (22 starts), he is 5-12 with a 4.37 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 119.1 innings pitched.

Freddie Freeman enters the series finale on a 19-game hitting streak and J.D. Martinez has hit safely in 14 straight. Martinez also has a home run in each of the last three games.
