Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw & Justin Turner Among Dodgers Participating In ‘This Is Our Year’ World Series Special

Unable to hold a traditional World Series celebration with fans, the Los Angeles Dodgers are recognizing their season through a “This Is Our Year” special presentation that will air Wednesday on SportsNet LA and be carried by AM 570.

The show additionally will be live streamed on the Dodgers’ Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts. SportsNet LA is beginning their coverage at 5:30 p.m. PT, with the “This Is Our Year” programming starting at 6 p.m.

The live special will include player interviews, video tributes and more surprises. Joe Davis, Orel Hershiser and Alanna Rizzo are serving as hosts; and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Claton Kershaw, Justin Turner, Walker Buehler, Mookie Betts and Corey Seager are among those scheduled to participate.

Also on Wednesday, Turner is appearing on AM 570’s “Petros and Money” for his first public interview since L.A. defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 6.

While the Dodgers announced plans to air the special, the team reiterated there will be an official World Series celebration at a later date. “This season was everything we believed it could be. It was just missing one thing: The best fans in baseball,” the Dodgers said in a statement last month.

“While the wait for a World Championship is finally over, a celebration worthy of our great fans and the City of Los Angeles will unfortunately have to wait until it is safe to do so. We can’t wait to celebrate together!”

Mayor Eric Garcetti has since proposed utilizing the Griffith Park observatory to celebrate both the Dodgers and Lakers.

Cody Bellinger, LeBron James pitch join celebration

Like in 1988, the Lakers and Dodgers are champions in the same season. Unfortunately both teams have not yet been able to celebrate their accomplishment due to the ongoing pandemic. With the Lakers also in a holding pattern, LeBron James proposed a joint parade.

It was an idea Cody Bellinger supported and also petitioned for, though thus far there has not been any indication of that coming to fruition.
