MLB Trade Rumors: Dodgers Believed To Be Sending 5 Prospects To Orioles For Manny Machado
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Now that the Major League Baseball All-Star Game is over, the Baltimore Orioles will shift their focus to trading superstar shortstop Manny Machado.

It appears a bulk of their work is already done as they made have a deal in place with the Los Angeles Dodgers, although it isn’t expected to be announced until Wednesday at the earliest.

Who the Dodgers are sending back to Baltimore is still unknown, although it is believed that the package will be headlined by outfield prospect Yusniel Diaz and will not include any Major League players.

Jon Heyman of FanCred is now reporting that the Dodgers will be sending five prospects to the Orioles and will not be getting any money in return to help cover Machado’s remaining salary:

Five prospects seem like a lot for Machado, who could be just a three-month rental as he is set to hit free agency at the end of the year.

He is one of the elite players in the entire sport though and could help the Dodgers get over the hump to win their first World Series since 1988 though, so if there is any player worth giving up premium prospects for, he is the guy.

It will be interesting to see who the other prospects in the package are, with guys like Dustin May, Gavin Lux, Errol Robinson and Yadier Alvarez all appearing in recent rumors.
