The two biggest positions that the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to address with impact players at the MLB trade deadline are starting pitcher and outfield. Garrett Crochet appears to be their top pitching target, while Randy Arozarena and Luis Robert Jr. are two outfielders that the team has been heavily linked to.

One of those targets is now off of the board after the Tampa Bay Rays traded Arozarena to the Seattle Mariners.

The good news for the Dodgers is that Robert remains a very good fit for their roster and is still available. What could further heighten their interest is L.A. theoretically could acquire Garrett Crochet as well if they are able to put together a strong enough trade offer for the Chicago White Sox.

That may not be a likely outcome, as the White Sox reportedly are asking for a significant return in order to trade Crochet and Robert, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com:

The Dodgers could look to deal for both Robert and Crochet, filling two needs with one trade, but a source said the White Sox’ asking price for each player – let alone both of them in one package – is quite high.

It is a fair evaluation on the White Sox’s part as each player on is young, talented and comes with multiple years of team control.

With two top-100 prospects and the No. 8 ranked overall farm system according to MLB Pipeline, the Dodgers certainly have the necessary depth and blue chip prospects to pull off a deal of this magnitude if they wanted to.

However, Crochet’s recent demands of wanting to remain a starter and sign a contract extension in order to pitch in the postseason could significantly impact his trade odds.

Luis Robert Jr. best fit for Dodgers?

While Arozarena has postseason experience, Robert may be a better fit for the Dodgers roster given his ability to play center field.

Andy Pages has filled in admirably as a rookie, but has fallen into some inconsistency at the plate and has plenty of room for growth defensively.
