MLB Top-10 Shortstops Right Now: Corey Seager Ranked First By The Shredder For 2024

For a second time in three installments thus far from The Shredder for the 2024 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers did not have a player ranked among the top 10 for a specific position.

They were left off the list of best starting pitchers and also did not have a selection for the Top-10 Shortstops Right Now. Will Smith was ranked by The Shredder as the No. 2 catcher in baseball heading into the season.

The MLB Top-10 Shortstops Right Now list for 2024 has Corey Seager atop The Shredder rankings, along with that of lists compiled by analysts Mike Petriello, Vince Gennaro and Sarah Langs.

Following Seager in The Shredder rankings were Francisco Lindor (New York Mets), Xander Bogaerts (San Diego Padres), Dansby Swanson (Chicago Cubs), Trea Turner (Philadelphia Phillies), Bo Bichette (Toronto Blue Jays), Carlos Correa (Minnesota Twins), Willy Adames (Milwaukee Brewers), Bobby Witt Jr. (Kansas City Royals) and J.P. Crawford (Seattle Mariners).

Seager is a former Dodgers draft pick and World Series MVP, and Turner played for the team as well. The Dodgers otherwise have been connected to Bogaerts, Swanson, Bichette, Correa and Adames in free agency or trade speculation at various points over recent years.

After Turner inherited the position from Seager, the Dodgers intended to hand it over to Gavin Lux in 2023. But Lux suffered a torn ACL and LCL in his right knee during Spring Training and wound up missing the entire season.

The Dodgers anticipate Lux making a full recovery in time for Opening Day and are confident in 26-year-old despite their reported interest in an Adames trade.

Lux conceivably could appear on The Shredder rankings for 2025 if he puts together a strong season. He was included in the just missed category for 2023.
