MLB Top-10 Left Fielders Right Now 2026: Teoscar Hernández Left Off Rankings

MLB Network’s The Shredder did not rank Teoscar Hernández as a top-10 left fielder heading into the 2026 season.

Hernández was previously ranked among the best right fielders by The Shredder heading into 2024, where he ranked No. 8, and in 2025 when he placed 10th.

Hernández is coming off a poor 2025 season and is now looking to rebound to the elite production he put up in 2024.

The Shredder considers the three previous seasons of production in their rankings, but Hernández has been closer to bad than good in two of them.

Last year, Hernández hit .247/.284/.454 with 25 home runs, 89 RBI, 65 runs scored, a 102 wRC+ and 0.6 WAR. He also struggled compared to his normal production in 2023, batting .258/.305/.435 with 26 home runs, 93 RBI, 70 runs scored, a 107 wRC+ and 1.9 WAR.

However, his 2024 season saw him get back to the levels of his Toronto Blue Jays days. The now 33-year-old hit .272/.339/.501 with 33 home runs, 99 RBI, 84 runs scored, a 132 wRC+ and 3.4 WAR.

Over the three years considered, Hernández has hit .259/.311/.463 with 84 home runs, 281 RBI, 219 runs scored, a 114 wRC+ and 6 WAR.

His struggles in the field also contributed to his poor season, as Hernández was among the worst defenders in baseball while playing right field last year.

His -9 outs above average (OAA) ranked in the third percentile of MLB players, and the eye test backed up his poor defense.

However, Hernández was also a poor defender in left field the season prior. He posted the same -9 OAA, which was a significant drop from the 0 he posted in 2023 while in right field.

Hernández lost weight this offseason in an effort to get more athletic to both improve on his defense and stay healthy, and he hopes that will pay off for him.

But the Dodgers are looking more for his bat to rebound, and the early Spring Training results have been encouraging for that.

Projection systems also expect Hernández to rebound a bit, with most placing him around a two-win player with a 120 wRC+.

If that happens, Hernández would likely enter the top-10 left fielder list for the 2026 season.

Jarren Duran of the Boston Red Sox took the top spot in The Shredder’s rankings, while former Dodgers center fielder Cody Bellinger checked in at No. 3.

In addition, former Dodgers farmhand Yordan Alvarez was placed No. 7.

Although Hernández was unranked by The Shredder, he did appear on the list done by MLB Network Analyst, former All-Star and World Series champion Cliff Floyd, who placed him No. 10 behind Randy Arozarena.
