With the offseason almost over and Spring Training set to begin soon, that also means the next iteration of “MLB The Show,” Major League Baseball’s hallmark video game, will be releasing soon.

MLB The Show 25, the game’s 20th Anniversary edition, is the first time the cover features multiple athletes on it. Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds, Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles and Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates received the honor.

De La Cruz is the first Reds player to grace the cover of The Show. Henderson is the first Orioles player to be on a video game cover since Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., who appeared on MLB 99.

Andrew McCutchen previously represented the Pirates on MLB the Show 13.

The rise of young stars around MLB is the reason for such a highly coveted trio, and the future of the game is in good hands with their dynamic play.

After making his MLB debut in the summer of 2023, De La Cruz hit for the cycle on June 23, the third-fewest games of any player. He was named to his first All-Star Game, leading MLB in steals with 67 as a 22-year-old.

Henderson put his name in the mind of fans after he slugged 37 home runs last season, setting an Orioles franchise record by a shortstop. He was named to the 2024 All-Star Game as the American League’s starting shortstop.

After winning a College World Series title with LSU, Skenes became the first overall pick by the Pirates. He made his MLB debut early in the 2024 season, dominating as a 22-year-old.

Skenes went 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA, tallying 170 strikeouts in 133 innings pitched. He allowed a .198 batting average to opposing hitters, with a 0.95 WHIP in 23 starts, earning him the 2024 NL Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award.

How to preorder MLB The Show 25

Pre-orders for all editions of MLB The Show 25 begin on Feb. 4, 2025, at participating retailers and platform stores.

No perks and additional stuff for any version has been announced, but in years past, customers ordering special editions received tiered rewards, along with the early access to the game.

MLB The Show 25 is set for release on March 18, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. Early Access for the game begins on March 14 for those who purchase a deluxe edition of the game.
