Miguel Rojas: ‘It Means A Lot’ To Reach 1,000 Career Hits

The Los Angeles Dodgers broke out the bats for a 12-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday, which helped them earn a series split at Coors Field.

The Dodgers matched a season-high with five home runs in the contest, led by Max Muncy and Dalton Rushing both leaving the yard twice. Miguel Rojas also hit his first homer of the season in the top of the second inning as part of a back-to-back effort with Muncy.

Rojas finished 3-for-3 with the home run and two RBI, doing all of his damage against left-hander Jose Quintana. He’s now hitting a stellar .529/.600/.824 with three extra-base hits in 20 plate appearances against southpaws this season.

It was an extra special game for Rojas, who recorded his 1,000th career hit with a single in the top of the fourth.

“I just credit everything to my preparation against left-handed pitching,” Rojas told Kirsten Watson SportsNet LA. “I know my role on this team, and just being ready for the opportunity as always.

“It’s pretty cool. Something I accomplished today, getting to 1,000 hits in my career, is something I marked on my calendar for this year. So pretty cool personal accomplishment but at the end of the day the most important part was winning this game.”

Rojas is in his 13th and final Major League season as a player. He began his career with the Dodgers in 2014 before spending the next eight as a member of the Miami Marlins and eventually finding his way back to L.A.

“It means a lot,” Rojas said of recording his 1,000th career hit. “I received an opportunity 13 years ago from this organization and this is a special ballpark because it’s where I got my first hit. All it took was an opportunity.

“Playing in the big leagues is the first goal everybody has, but then you start putting more goals in your career. Definitely this opportunity for me, to come back to Colorado, this is a special place for me and my family. Just remembering everything that happened 13 years ago and now getting an opportunity to do this here, it means a lot.”

Miguel Rojas joining Dodgers front office after retiring

After he retires at the end of the 2026 season, Rojas plans to immediately join the Dodgers front office and assist them in player development.
