After winning the 2024 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers have gone on to significantly improve their roster with the signings of Blake Snell, Tanner Scott, Michael Conforto, Kirby Yates, Hyeseong Kim and Roki Sasaki this offseason.
The team was projected by PECOTA of Baseball Prospectus to win an MLB-best 104 games during the 2025 season with a 100% chance of making the playoffs.
It’s the third time in the last six years that the PECOTA model has estimated the Dodgers would win at least 100 games. L.A. has crossed the century mark four times during that span, topping out at 111 victories in 2022.
During an appearance on “The Chris Rose Rotation,” Miguel Rojas said he wouldn’t be surprised if the 2025 Dodgers win 120 games:
“This year, if everybody is healthy, it’s another story. You throw those guys out there, you win 120 games. … I know it’s a lot, but with that roster you’re supposed to go out there and win.”
Rojas added the Dodgers won’t chase the all-time MLB wins record but noted that merely could be achieved as part of their everyday approach:
“I don’t think it’s a goal, it’s an expectation. The expectation that we have is winning. That’s why I put a number on it. I’m not going to shy away from telling you we’re capable of winning 120 games with that team that we have.
“If everybody is showing they’re committed to doing their part, it’s possible. It’s possible we can win 115 games, 120 games, with that team being healthy and ready to go.”
The all-time MLB record belongs to the 1906 Chicago Cubs and 2001 Seattle Mariners, who each finished with 116 wins in their respective seasons.
Whether the 2025 Dodgers can match or surpass that total remains to be seen, but they certainly have the talent to do it.
As Rojas noted, the club will need to stay healthy to have any chance of breaking the MLB wins record. It’s no secret that health was an issue last season, but they were able to overcome their injuries to win the eighth World Series title in franchise history.
The Dodgers’ franchise record for most wins is 111, set during the 2022 season. That came after the Dodgers set a record with 106 wins in 2019 and 2021.
Miguel Rojas gives No. 11 to Roki Sasaki
With the Dodgers succeeding in signing Sasaki, it entailed Rojas changing jersey numbers from 11 to 72 for his new teammate. Rojas happily did so and made it clear he is not expecting any sort of gift or compensation from Sasaki for the gesture.
