Michael Busch & Gavin Stone Among Dodgers Prospects On 2023 Triple-A Oklahoma City Opening Day Roster

The Triple-A Oklahoma City Opening Day roster for the 2023 season features notable Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Michael Busch and Gavin Stone. Oklahoma City opens their schedule on Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Busch and Stone both were in big league camp with the Dodgers during Spring Training this year, and the right-handed pitching prospect was among the standouts for manager Dave Roberts.

Stone is starting Opening Day for Oklahoma City in place of Michael Grove, who earned a spot on the Dodgers Opening Day roster because of Ryan Pepiot’s left oblique strain.

Four players on OKC’s roster are on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster in Busch, Yonny Hernández, Justin Bruihl and Victor González. Each could see time at the Major League level in 2023 as well.

Of the 28 players on the roster, 12 of them spent at least part of the 2022 season with the OKC Dodgers, including pitchers Robbie Erlin, Justin Hagenman, Jake Reed, Nick Robertson and Mark Washington; catcher Hunter Feduccia and outfielder Drew Avans.

Much of their roster also has previous Major League experience, with 17 players making their debut already and three appearing for the Dodgers in 2022 (Bruihl, Erlin and Reed).

Seven others appeared in the Major Leagues last season with a different organization, including pitchers Tyler Cyr, Adam Kolarek and Tayler Scott; catcher Patrick Mazeika; infielder Luke Williams; and outfielders Steven Duggar and Bradley Zimmer.

Others who have appeared in the Majors throughout their careers are pitchers Matt Andriese, Dylan Covey and Wander Suero; catcher David Freitas, and infielder Jahmai Jones.

Three of the players on the roster have also helped their teams win a World Series at some point in their career, with González and Kolarek pitching for the 2020 Dodgers and Suero pitching for the 2019 Washington Nationals.

Only two of the players on the roster, Justin Yurchak and Ryan Ward, have never played in a game above Double-A in their careers. Pitcher Bryan Hudson and outfielder Michael Reed also join the squad after spending time in Triple-A last season in other organizations.
