Mets Vs. Dodgers Game Preview: Walker Buehler Looks To Bounce Back

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to keep it rolling Saturday as they go for their third consecutive win and a series victory over the New York Mets.

Walker Buehler makes his 11th start of the season and tries to turn the page after an inconsistent outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He allowed two early home runs that put the Dodgers in a 4-0 deficit.

Buehler gave up only two hits the rest of the way and completed six innings, but he again came away disappointed by his performance.

“A little better at the end than the beginning, obviously, but just disappointing,” Buehler said after the game. “Our team is playing so well, claws back from the hole I put us in, it’s just disappointing.”

Buehler enters at 6-1 with a 3.22 ERA, 3.45 FIP and 1.24 WHIP with 49 strikeouts against 15 walks in 58.2 innings pitched this season. The right-hander owns a 1-0 record with a 3.65 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in four career starts against the Mets.

New York counters with David Peterson, who is making his first career start against the Dodgers. He is 2-0 with a 3.03 ERA, 3.99 FIP and 1.18 WHIP in 29.2 innings pitched this season (six games, five starts).

Peterson is looking to bounce back from from his worst start of the season against the Washington Nationals in which he yielded four runs on six hits across 4.2 innings pitched.

Peterson has pitched much better on the road this season, as evidenced by his 1.72 ERA in three appearances (two starts). By comparison, he has posted a 4.50 ERA in three starts at home.

Trea Turner enters play with an MLB-best 26 game hitting streak. It’s his second-longest stretch since being traded to the Dodgers, trailing only the 27-game hitting streak he had earlier this year.
