Coming off 17-run performance on Monday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers bats picked up right where they left off on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, coming away with an 8-3 victory at Chavez Ravine.

They wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Joc Pederson led off the bottom of the first with a deep home run to right field off Pirates starter Ivan Nova. Max Muncy then followed with a home run of his own, giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead.

The home run parade was just getting started though, as Muncy came up for his second at-bat in the bottom of the third and hit his second home run of the night, giving him 20 for the season.

Yasmani Grandal then hit a ball off the top of the wall to lead off the fourth, resulting in a triple. He scored just a few pitches later though when Chris Taylor launched a deep home run to left.

The scoring picked up again in the bottom of the sixth for the Dodgers, with Grandal leading off once again. He didn’t miss this one though, hitting one in the seats. After a double by Taylor, it was Kiké Hernandez’s turn to leave the yard, hitting one to deep center to give the Dodgers an 8-2 lead courtesy of six home runs.

All of these runs came in support of Clayton Kershaw, who turned in his second straight good start. He gave up just two runs in six innings, allowing four hits while striking out two without allowing a walk.

Both of the Pirates runs against Kershaw came when catcher Elias Diaz doubled and then scored on an RBI-single by David Freese in the second and fourth innings.

Taylor came up in the bottom of the seventh inning needing just a single to complete a cycle. He wound up striking out though, falling a single short for the second time in the last three years.

Yimi Garcia pitched the seventh for the Dodgers, giving up just a solo home run to Freese. J.T. Chargois then tosses and scoreless eighth in his first outing back from the Minors, followed by Erik Goeddel, who closed out the victory.
