Max Muncy hit one of two home runs for the Los Angeles Dodgers in their Game 2 win of the 2025 National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
His solo shot came in the sixth inning to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 3-1. That marked Muncy’s 14th home run in postseason play over his career, which made him stand alone in Dodgers record books.
With that, Muncy moved out of a tie with Corey Seager and Justin Turner for the most home runs during the postseason in Dodgers franchise history.
“It means a lot to me,” Muncy said. “The Dodgers are a franchise that have been around for a very, very long time. A lot of very successful players have played in this organization. And to be able to break that record is kind of huge for me.
“But the biggest thing I would say is it speaks to the fact that I’ve had a chance to play in so many postseason games. And that’s the biggest thing about being a Dodger, you know you’ll have a chance in October to play meaningful baseball games. To be able to have that chance every single year I’ve been here, that’s always been the most important thing to me.
“You get as many chances as you can to win that World Series. That’s the reason why you play this game. It’s a whole little history and a great organization like the Dodgers. It’s huge.”
Seager and Turner remain tied for second place with 13 each, while Duke Snider is next with 11. Kiké Hernández and Steve Garvey follow with 10 each, while Cody Bellinger, Chris Taylor and Joc Pederson are tied with nine.
Will Smith rounds out the top-10 list with eight home runs during his Dodgers postseason career.
Muncy has appeared in 70 postseason games with the Dodgers, which is fourth all-time in franchise history. Justin Turner leads the way with 86 games, while Hernández is closing in with 83.
Max Muncy thought Sal Frelick robbed homer
In Game 1, Muncy was part of one of the most confusing plays in recent memory when he nearly hit a grand slam, but it ended up being a double play.
Muncy drove the ball to center field, where Sal Frelick jumped to make a catch and touched the ball his glove. However, it went off the wall at which point Frelick re-caught it on the ricochet.
That led to confusion on the bases, and it resulted in Teoscar Hernández being thrown out at home, while Smith was doubled off at third base.
Muncy hit the ball in Game 2 to a similar spot on the field, and he once again thought Frelick prevented him from hitting a homer.
“I definitely thought he got it,” Muncy said. “That back wall is so close to the center field wall, I didn’t see the ball bounce at all. When I didn’t see it bounce I thought he came down with it again. And I was about to be very, very frustrated.
“But I saw him sit on the ground, that’s when I realized he didn’t have it. And I was obviously very ecstatic. Big home run in that moment. And get us another run, get another run for Yoshi to go out there feel more comfortable.
“In the back of my mind, I also knew that one broke the record. So for me that was a really cool moment.”
