A recently completed 10-game road trip was not kind to the Los Angeles Dodgers (18-17), as the defending World Series champions lost eight times, including seven as favorites of -126 or higher at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Backers of Los Angeles during that stretch lost a lot as well, and now the team hopes to rebound back at Chavez Ravine starting on Tuesday as a strong -235 betting favorite in the first of two games against a team with the same record in the Seattle Mariners (18-17).
The Dodgers will turn to Walker Buehler (1-0, 3.13 ERA) in an effort to break out of their funk versus the Mariners, who will send Yusei Kikuchi (1-2, 4.30 ERA) to the mound opposite him. Buehler has struck out 27 batters in his past three starts combined totaling 19.1 innings, but his team has failed to pick up a victory, losing by one run late in the games each time. Los Angeles fell 6-5 in 11 innings to the Chicago Cubs in his last start Wednesday, losing as a -160 road favorite (how the moneyline works).

Meanwhile, Kikuchi was unfortunate to be on the other side of a no-hitter in his last start, taking the loss in a 6-0 setback to John Means and the Baltimore Orioles despite allowing just three runs and five hits in seven innings with one walk and seven strikeouts. In his previous outing, Kikuchi pitched seven scoreless innings and gave up only one hit en route to earning a victory in a 1-0 road win over the Houston Astros. He is 1-1 away from home this year with a 3.57 ERA.
In the series finale on Wednesday, Julio Urias (4-1, 3.59 ERA) is expected to get the call for the Dodgers against Justin Dunn (1-0, 3.51 ERA). Much like his team, Urias will try to bounce back after he turned in his worst start of 2021 and suffered his first defeat.
The 24-year-old southpaw from Mexico surrendered five runs and eight hits to the Los Angeles Angels last Friday in a 9-2 loss. More good news for Seattle is that the team has won four of Dunn’s five starts this season. The bad news is that he has yet to pitch six innings in any of those starts, which is why he is 1-0.
Los Angeles visited this same opponent at T-Mobile Park on April 19 and 20 and split a pair of games, with the UNDER cashing twice at online betting sites. In fact, the past three meetings have all gone below the total along with four of the last five. Prior to that split, the Dodgers won four of the previous five meetings with the Mariners and 10 of 12.
