The Los Angeles Dodgers clawed out a winning record on their road trip and now begin a homestand against the Seattle Mariners, which marks Justin Turner’s first visit to Dodger Stadium since leaving as a free agent.

Turner spent nine seasons with the Dodgers, which included two All-Star Game selections and a World Series championship in 2020, among other accolades. He signed with the Boston Red Sox before the 2023 season but opted out of that contract and joined the Toronto Blue Jays for this year.

As the Blue Jays became sellers at the trade deadline, they sent Turner to the Mariners, where he’s part of a division race.

Although Turner is returning to Dodger Stadium for the first time, he’s faced the Dodgers last season and earlier this year as well. In his career, Turner is batting .294/.369/.498 with 108 doubles, 85 home runs and 291 RBI.

He and the Mariners face Gavin Stone, who is looking to build off an encouraging start last week. Stone held the Milwaukee Brewers to one run and collected six strikeouts en route to earning his first win since June 26.

Overall this season, Stone is 10-5 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 22 starts. He’s the only Dodgers starter to reach 10 wins this year.

The Mariners counter with Bryan Woo for his 15th start of the season. The right-hander enters 5-1 with a 2.06 ERA and 0.85 WHIP, and is coming off seven scoreless innings against the Detroit Tigers.

Woo faces somewhat of a new-look Dodgers lineup that includes Tommy Edman making his team debut and Max Muncy being back from the 60-day injured list. Meanwhile, Freddie Freeman is going to play through a hairline fracture in his right middle finger.

However, the Dodgers did have to place Austin Barnes on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left big toe. Hunter Feduccia was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Barnes’ roster spot.
