The Seattle Mariners announced the signing of former Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed reliever Zac Rosscup to a one-year contract. The terms were not released, but it is a Major League deal.

The Dodgers designated Rosscup for assignment at the beginning of the offseason to make room on the 40-man roster for prospects that they did not want to lose in the Rule 5 Draft.

After going unclaimed on waivers, Rosscup was later released from the organization and became a free agent.

Rosscup pitched in 17 games for the Dodgers in the second half of the season after they claimed him off waivers from the Colorado Rockies, posting a 4.76 ERA, 4.13 FIP and 1.15 WHIP with 20 strikeouts and four walks in 11.1 innings.

In need of a lefty specialist, Rosscup did exactly what the club needed him to do, and that was retire lefties as they hit just .143 against him.

Rosscup dealt with some injuries throughout the course of the 2018 season, so he only pitched in 10 Minor League innings between the Dodgers and Rockies organizations in addition to his Major League service with Los Angeles.

In those Minor League outings, Rosscup had an impressive 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP with 11 strikeouts and four walks across 12 games.

Rosscup is the first of the Dodgers relievers that were released this offseason to find a new home, although switch-pitcher Pat Venditte may also be close to doing the same as reports indicate he is going to sign with the San Francisco Giants.
