The Los Angeles Dodgers travel roster for South Korea features 31 players, including 16 pitchers, although the group will need to be pared down to the standard 26-man active roster for the start of the Seoul Series.
As ultimately expected, Blake Treinen, Max Muncy and Gavin Lux joined the Dodgers for their 14-hour flight. There had been some questions surrounding Treinen’s availability after he was hit in the chest by a line-drive comebacker that caused a bruised lung.
However, Treinen managed to push through some minor residual soreness during a light bullpen session on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Muncy and Lux were both feeling under the weather earlier this week and spent one day out of camp at Camelback Ranch. Lux returned to the Dodgers lineup for their Cactus League finale but Muncy only played once since March 6.
Hunter Feduccia is the Dodgers’ third catcher and could find himself pressed into duty if Will Smith’s lower back tightness remains an issue. Smith was scratched from the lineup on Wednesday and although there has not been much concern expressed, it’s the type of injury that could be aggravated by a long flight to Asia.
Dodgers prospects Kyle Hurt and Landon Knack are on the trip as well. Hurt made his MLB debut last year and Knack is expected to contribute at some point this season.
Not playing but part of the Dodgers’ traveling party are broadcasters Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser, who are going to call the two exhibition games and Seoul Series for the SportsNet LA telecasts.
