MLB Spring Breakout games are being played for the second consecutive year as the league looks to further highlight some of the sport’s top prospects across all 30 organizations.
This year’s Spring Breakout rosters feature 72 players who were featured on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects lists for the 2025 season.
The Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners boast the most top 100 prospects on their respective Spring Breakout rosters with six each.
The Los Angeles Dodgers roster consists of just three prospects that were included on the MLB Pipeline top 100 rankings for 2025. That group consists of Josue De Paula (No. 40), Jackson Ferris (No. 70) and Zyhir Hope (No. 74).
Spring Breakout omissions from additional Dodgers prospects included in MLB Pipeline’s top 100 as well are Roki Sasaki (No. 1), Dalton Rushing (No. 30) and Alex Freeland (No. 71). Saskai of course is going to be on the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster, and Rushing could potentially be included on the taxi squad to travel with the team to Tokyo as well.
Spring Breakout games will use the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system at Camelback Ranch, Goodyear Ballpark, Peoria Sports Complex and Salt River Fields, in addition to Florida Grapefruit League stadiums in Clearwater, Dunedin and Jupiter.
Dodgers prospects are scheduled to play those from the Chicago Cubs organization on Thursday, March 13. First pitch at Camelback Ranch is set for 6:05 p.m. PT. It will air on MLB Network once coverage of the Spring Breakout game between the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays has concluded.
Among the 16 Spring Breakout games being played this year, nine are part of a traditional doubleheader (one admission charge) either before or after Major League teams square off.
