With the 2020 MLB season complete unique in the league’s history, teams were instructed to assemble a 60-man player pool for the year. The Los Angeles Dodgers announced an initial player pool of 51, and have made changes since doing so.

Most notably was with David Price, who opted out of playing the 2020 season due to health and safety concerns. Price wished his Dodgers teammates well and has continued to receive support from every member of the organization. The veteran left-hander now is on the restricted list.

Also removed from the Dodgers’ initial player pool was Jimmy Nelson, as he underwent season-ending back surgery. “It’s something that’s been lingering for quite some time and kept him out of Spring Training,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

“We just couldn’t get him untracked as far as physically. There were days he felt well but then the back, the arm, kept popping up. We just couldn’t get any traction with him. I know he was frustrated throughout the spring. After quarantining and giving some time off, it just never really came around.”

The Dodgers steadily added to their player pool over recent weeks, including a slew of their 2020 MLB Draft picks. The club’s player pool for the 2020 season is now full, though it remains unclear which members potentially are on the injured list for coronavirus (COVID-19) purposes.

Such cases do not count against the player pool.
