Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, 76 Gas Partner On Smilin’ Jack Pin & Corduroy Cap

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) and 76 Gas have partnered to improve access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education for 5,000 local youth.

The collaboration launched this week and supports LADF’s efforts to provide hands-on STEM curriculum and programming, in partnership with Science of Sport, to elementary and middle school students through teacher training in local underserved communities.

“Teaming up with 76® affords us the opportunity to further our mission of providing STEM curriculum to youth in Los Angeles,” LADF chief executive office Nichol Whiteman said in a statement.

“With the 76 brand’s support, we’re able to train more teachers and offer a first of its kind STEM curriculum and accompanying kits to keep students engaged in science and math as they hit the age where their interests and test scores tend to decline.”

The collaboration between the official Dodgers foundation and 76 includes a custom pin featuring the iconic Smilin’ Jack; the fuel company started the campaign with a $35,000 donation. The first 500 fans to make a minimum $76 donation will receive the limited-edition Smilin’ Jack pin and a co-branded corduroy cap, while supplies last.

“Smilin’ Jack has been a Halloween tradition since 1952,” said Juliana Moreno, public affairs advisor at the Phillips 66 Los Angeles Refinery. “Phillips 66 is proud to support LADF’s efforts advancing education and fostering strong and resilient communities.”

Dodgers fans can support the initiative by texting “FUEL” to 41623, or by visiting the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Homebase in the center field plaza at Dodger Stadium, where 100 sets of six historical Dodgers pins are available with a donation of $76 or more, while supplies last.

The Dodgers are also hosting an online auction from Sept. 27-Oct.7, which features game-used items and autographed memorabilia. Plus, 50% of the pot from the 50/50 raffle at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 1, will benefit the STEM programming.

Dodgers pins by 76

Earlier this year, new Dodgers pins were made available to fans who purchased at least eight gallons of fuel through the My 76 mobile app.

The Dodgers and 76 have a longstanding partnership, and a pins series in 2019 coincided with the brand’s iconic logos returning above the scoreboards at Dodger Stadium.
