The Los Angeles Dodgers have established themselves as Japan’s de facto MLB team given their roster features Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki.
The Dodgers have leveraged their popularity within the Japanese market with several collaborations the past couple of seasons. Earlier this year, Los Angeles partnered with Toei Animation to host One Piece Night.
One Piece is widely regarded as one of the best and most popular franchises in history as the series features one of the longest-running manga and anime to date, as well as numerous movies, video games and other works.
While other teams and leagues have embraced Japanese art and animation, the Dodgers have really captured the segment. The popularity of their Japanese stars coupled with the country’s growing interest in the club has made collaborations much more extravagant and meaningful for fans.
Continuing their partnership with popular franchises, the Dodgers are hosting Demon Slayer Night at Dodger Stadium on Aug. 15. The giveaway for the game is an exclusive Demon Slayer-designed hat.

The game night event will be to promote the upcoming film “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Arc” that is set to release in the United States on Sept. 12. The hat will be given away to the first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance while supplies last at point of entry.
This is the second time the Demon Slayer franchise has been involved with MLB as they also collaborated on the Tokyo Series via a themed promotional video and merchandise.
What is Demon Slayer?
The Demon Slayer manga was written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge and ran from February 2016 to May 2020. Since its inception, Demon Slayer has been one of the most popular series during the modern era of manga and anime. The anime premiered in 2019 and will conclude with a movie trilogy that adapts the manga’s final arc.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Arc” is the first of the three movies scheduled to release. The film is produced by famed animation studio Ufotable and will be available in Japanese with English subtitles as well as dubbed in English.
