Kyle Tucker Excited For Opening Day With Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers expect Kyle Tucker to provide a huge boost to their outfield group and overall lineup this season after giving him a 4-year, $240 million contract.

It was an exorbitant price to pay, but one the Dodgers felt they had to make after experiencing issues with their outfield last season and not wanting to hand out a long-term deal. Tucker immediately slots into an already loaded lineup as one of its best hitters, and he also should help improve the outfield defense.

As the regular season approaches, Tucker is looking forward to making his Dodgers debut on Opening Day at Dodger Stadium against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Doug Padilla of the Southern California News Group:

“It’s exciting,” Tucker promised. “I’m looking forward to it. They’ll be out in L.A. with me and everything once the season starts, so I’m excited to see them again and just get ready for the season (and) play in meaningful games.”

Tucker is on his third team in three seasons after spending the first seven years of his Major League career with the Houston Astros.

The left-hander has quickly ingratiated himself with his new organization and teammates and said he is trying to do his part to help the organization win its third consecutive World Series.

That’s exactly why the Dodgers signed Tucker, believing his addition was one of the few needle moving moves they could make.

Kyle Tucker will be prepared for Opening Day after being away from Dodgers

Tucker missed a week of Cactus League play to be with his wife, Samantha, who gave birth to the couple’s first child.

That time away has left him with only 16 at-bats under his belt, with less than two weeks remaining in the Cactus League season. However, Tucker isn’t concerned about his ability to be prepared for the upcoming regular season.

The eight-year veteran is confident he’ll get enough at-bats to feel ready for the regular season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts added that he doesn’t believe Tucker needs much time to get ready, citing his veteran prowess and experience.

The 29-year-old is expected to play right field and bat second in the Dodgers lineup this season.
