Yasiel Puig Sets Dodgers Franchise Record With 58 Postseason Games Played

After appearing in 16 postseason games in 2018, Yasiel Puig now holds the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise record for most postseason games played with 58, breaking Andre Ethier’s previous mark of 51.

When Puig tied Ethier during the National League Championship Series, he expressed his gratitude and appreciation for being able to play on the biggest stage so many times.

Puig made his MLB debut and immediately burst onto the scene with the Dodgers in 2013. He has made the postseason in every year he has been with the team as they have won six straight National League West division titles.

The 2018 postseason may have been Puig’s best as he batted .300/.375/.480 with three doubles, two home runs and eight RBI in 56 plate appearances.

Overall in his 58 career postseason games, Puig has hit .280/.351/.429 with five home runs, three triples and 23 RBI.

Puig went into this October confident that the Dodgers would not only return to but win the World Series. They fell just short of their ultimate goal, being defeated by the Boston Red Sox in five games. They lost to the Houston Astros in seven games in 2017.

Los Angeles defeated the Atlanta Braves in four games in the NL Division Series and the Milwaukee Brewers in seven games in the NL Championship Series. Puig hit a big three-run home run in Game 7 of the NLCS to help lead the Dodgers back to the Fall Classic.

Barring any trades, Puig will remain with the team in 2019 and have another chance to finally capture that World Series championship that has evaded him and his teammates the last six years.
