Teoscar Hernández: ‘Great’ Seeing Dodgers Offense Break Out

The Los Angeles Dodgers broke out in a big way on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers at Dodger Stadium, scoring 15 runs in a blowout win.

Amassing 14 hits, the Dodgers’ offense also combined for five home runs, four of which came in the bottom of the sixth inning. They punished every poorly located pitch from the start of the game, tallying six extra-base hits, highlighting their bats clicking in sync.

“Great,” Hernández said. “We’ve been playing really good baseball, and like I said, we are having good at-bats, and that’s why we have produced a lot lately. That’s something that we are going to try to keep doing for the rest of the season the best that we can. Just trying to score runs and win ball games.”

Hernández had success of his own, clubbing his 17th home run of the season, a two-run shot. He was the third of four homers in the big, sixth frame, continuing his insane run of offense that he credits to just playing good baseball.

“I have a bunch (of big moments), but nothing like producing, getting a lot of RBIs and a lot of homers,” Hernández said of how his current season compares to the past.

“I had (good years) before, but just hits and getting on-base, but not producing the run support for the team. But you know, it’s something that you try to continue to do, having those good stretches throughout the season and just trying to minimize the battles.”

Since May 16, Hernández is batting .314/.398/.605 with seven doubles, six home runs, 14 RBI and a 10.2% walk rate. He’s elevated his game when the time has called, an approach that has uplifted the overall mood of the lineup.

Seeing the majority of the Dodgers lineup producing is a surefire plus, and can have lasting effects if those results carry over.

“I feel great,” Hernández said. “It’s awesome when you see everybody getting hits in a game, getting some production and scoring runs, that’s fun. We enjoy, I enjoy it, and we are having a great time right now.”

The Dodgers have played middling baseball over their last 18 games, going 9-9. But a huge series win against the New York Yankees and a lopsided victory on Tuesday bode well for their momentum.

Dodgers reunite Teoscar Hernández with Cavan Biggio

On Wednesday, the Dodgers traded Minor Leaguer Braydon Fisher to the Toronto Blue Jays for Cavan Biggio.

Biggio had been designated for assignment last week and will be active for the Dodgers’ game on Wednesday against the Rangers. He and Hernández reunite, having both spent time with the Blue Jays in years past.

Biggio batted .200/.323/.614 with two home runs and nine RBI in 110 at-bats this season.
